Do you have a brilliant lesson plan—or a talented graduate student who’s got several? Is there a teaching tip you wish all music teachers had in their toolkits?
Get a feather in your cap by submitting a lesson or tip to “My Music Class” on the MENC Web site. Your grad students can include this submission in their portfolios.
Hundreds of ideas are now available for use, and thousands of teachers worldwide can share the wealth. Get inspired! Check out what’s already online (using your MENC member ID) at http://menc.org/lessons. You may find just the approach you’ve been looking for.
To search for a lesson on a particular topic, use the search box for keywords, or check specific content areas or grade levels. You can even choose specific National Standards for Music Education.
Nicole Springer, who manages My Music Class, calls this easily accessible system “one of the best services MENC offers its members.” She adds, “It’s very easy to use, and it takes only a few minutes to get a lesson or tip online.”
To submit a lesson plan or teaching tip, go to “My Music Class” on the top banner on www.menc.org, then, on the right side of the screen, click on “Add a Lesson” and follow the directions. (A MENC member ID is required to see this area of the MENC Web site.)
Music educators are waiting to learn from you and your experience—don’t wait to clue them in on a lesson or tip that’s made a difference for you.
