Free Instruction and Guitar at 2008 Teaching Guitar Workshops
This summer MENC members can learn to teach guitar to beginning students. The MENC Guitar Education Team is taking applications for free Teaching Guitar Workshops, available exclusively to MENC members.
In addition to instruction, workshop participants receive a free guitar, guitar publications and accessories, and three graduate college credits from Duquesne University. The entire package is worth about $1,800, and participants pay only travel and housing expenses.
The 2008 site locations are:
- Atlanta, Georgia (June 23-27)
- Washington D.C. (June 23-27)
- Omaha, Nebraska (June 23-27)
- Columbus, Ohio (July 7-11)
- Ottawa, Ontario (July 7-11)
- Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (July 14-18)
- Indianapolis, Indiana (July 14-18)
- Nashville, Tennessee (July 28-August 1)
- Boise, Idaho (July 28-August 1)
In addition to the beginning guitar workshops, a Guitar Level Two workshop will be held at MENC headquarters in Reston, Virginia, July 21-25.
The MENC Guitar Education Team receives generous funding from the Guitar & Accessories Marketing Association (GAMA) and the International Music Products Association (NAMM). The Mary Pappert School of Music at Duquesne University, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, offers three graduate credits at no additional cost to participants.
