Caitlin Classic
Caitlin Merie Hurrey Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament
This year, the 5th Annual “Caitlin Classic” kicks off Music Education Week in Washington with a day of golf, a barbecue lunch, a silent auction, a putting contest, and other contests of skill on the links! Come support music education while spending a day of fun and fellowship with MENC members from across the nation, local military musicians, and friends of MENC, at the beautiful Twin Shields Golf Club in Dunkirk, Maryland on Wednesday, June 17. Proceeds from the tournament benefit the Caitlin Merie Hurrey Scholarship Fund.
For non-golfers, barbecue-only tickets are available. Come out and enjoy the day with us!

The Caitlin Merie Hurrey Scholarship Fund was established as a memorial to the daughter of Earl Hurrey, Deputy Executive Director of MENC: The National Association for Music Education. Caitlin was a student at Huntingtown Elementary School. She loved to play in the band, sing in the chorus, and wanted to be a teacher when she grew up.
The Fund awards four scholarships annually to:
- A high school senior planning to attend an accredited college or university who has a personal connection to Huntingtown Elementary School.
- A son/daughter of an MENC member planning to attend an accredited college or university.
- An MENC collegiate senior for professional development.
- A son/daughter of an active-duty or retired member of one of the U.S. military music ensembles.
